Special vehicle access permits – annual

Residents and businesses operating within restricted (pedestrian) zones central Reading may apply for a special vehicle annual permit. The permit provides access to the zones within restricted hours. Permits are issued at the discretion of Reading Borough Council as the highway authority. Those applying for special vehicle annual permits must have access to dedicated, off-street parking and have to provide proof of status for a permit application to be considered.

Proof of business

• National non-domestic rates demand
• Letter on the official business letterhead explaining the need for access during restricted hours

Proof of residency

Only one required showing name and address of resident, dated within last 4 months

• Bank statement
• Credit card bill/store card statement
• Gas/electric/telephone bill (mobile phone bills excluded)
• Current Council Tax bill

Proof of off-street parking

• Property deeds
• Tenancy agreement
• Lease or license to the land
• Agreement/contract with or specific letter or permission from landlord giving business access to parking
