Mereoak Park and Ride mobility hub expansion
The issue
Mereoak Park and Ride has 570 spaces and it currently doesn’t have any waiting facilities or toilets.
Planned development in the area is expected to increase demand for travel on the A33 corridor. If these journeys are made by car it will add to the existing congestion. This means alternative options are needed to increase capacity for travel into Reading.
The scheme
Mereoak Park and Ride could a major transport interchange hub by adding:
- Increased parking
- Electric vehicle charging points
- Toilets
- Waiting room
- Café
The outcome
- Better facilities will make the Park and Ride facility more attractive
- Attract more coach services
- More car parking and electric car charging facilities will increase usage
- Increased capacity for journeying along the A33 corridor, leading to economic growth
- Improved sustainable access to strategic transport networks
