Clinical waste

We provide free one-off or regular collections of clinical waste for residents treating themselves at home. Clinical waste is anything that could be infected or hazardous e.g.:

  • Blood or bodily fluids
  • Dialysis waste
  • Stoma bags
  • Medical swabs and dressings
  • Syringes and needles

Double-wrap other medical waste (incontinence pads, nappies etc.) and put in your grey rubbish bin.

To have clinical waste collections, you need a referral from your GP surgery, district nurse, hospital or NHS trust. They can refer you by completing our online form. We only accept referrals from an NHS email address.

If you have already been referred, you can use our online form to book a collection for your full sharps box of syringes and needles. You will need the reference number provided to you by us or your GP surgery, district nurse, hospital or NHS trust.

To cancel a clinical waste collection or report a missed collection please complete our online form.

We do not offer a collection service for commercial clinical waste.
