Family Help
What our service does
Reading Family Hubs

- help with your child’s early development
- health services
- extra support for families who need it
The aim is to help children, young people and families thrive.
Family Hubs bring together people from health, education and the community.
The Targeted Youth Service (TYS)

The service focuses on what young people are good at and can do. It helps them overcome problems, reach their goals, and move into adulthood in a positive way.
The Outreach and Detached Youth Work Service
This service meets young people where they already spend time. This includes parks, town centres and other places in the community.
Youth workers build friendly, trusting relationships with young people. They offer:
- advice and guidance
- support
- chances to grow and develop as a person
This helps young people to:
- stay safe
- make good choices
- find the services they need
The team also runs youth clubs, group activities, and other community programmes. These help young people to build confidence, learn life skills and feel more connected to their local community.
The Family Worker Team
The Family Worker Team supports whole families who are facing challenges. These challenges could affect how safe children and young people are, and how well they are doing.
The team works with families and other professionals together. They offer support that is designed around each family’s needs, to help:
- build stronger family relationships
- improve parenting confidence
- deal with problems early
- build resilience
The service focuses on what families are good at and can do. It helps families find their own solutions, get the right support, and make lasting positive changes. This means families are less likely to need more serious help later on.

Even when things are difficult, knowing that the work has a positive impact makes it worthwhile.”
Family Help, ATM
“I have worked for RBC for nearly 19 years and have been very fortunate to have had supportive managers throughout that time, both personally and professionally. They have allowed me to be myself and given me the space to be creative in my role as a Targeted Youth Worker. RBC is truly a great place to work.”
