Reconnect Team

What our service does

Reconnect is a multi-disciplinary team within Early Help & Prevention, specialising in working with young people and their wider networks, including family, peers, schools and communities. The service supports young people aged 10 and above where there are concerns about harm arising from the community, such as exploitation, substance misuse, criminal activity and serious youth violence.

The team works closely with the Child Exploitation and Missing Team, the Specialist Social Worker for Extra Familial Harm, and the Youth Justice Service to provide a coordinated response.

Reconnect has been established to support young people who are at risk of harm outside the home, including those affected by child sexual or criminal exploitation, missing episodes, and serious youth violence. The service is available to all young people aged 10–18, regardless of whether they are open to social care.

The approach is holistic and tailored to each young person and their family. Support is delivered in partnership with families, schools, neighbourhoods and the wider community, recognising and addressing the range of factors influencing a child’s experiences and outcomes.

Youth Justice Service (YJS)

The Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team that works to prevent children and young people from entering the youth justice system and to support those who have already offended to move away from further offending.

The service brings together professionals from a range of agencies to provide coordinated interventions that address the underlying causes of offending behaviour. It also supports young people to understand the impact of their actions on themselves and others, promoting positive, long-term change.
