On weekdays, the library is open for self-service collections, returns, browsing and studying between 9am and 10am.
Monday 9am-5pm
Tuesday 9am-7pm
Wednesday closed
Thursday 9am-7pm
Friday 9am-5pm
Saturday 10am-3pm

- space to sit, browse, learn and work
- local history collection
- free wifi throughout

- study space, most of which has access to plugs
- UKVI visa verification by appointment

Visitor parking at the Civic Centre and Central Library
There are limited visitor parking spaces at the Civic Centre and Central Library car park on Simmonds Street. All spaces must be booked in advance.
There are 7 spaces available:
- 3 disabled spaces
- 4 standard spaces
How to book
To reserve a space (for up to 3 hours, subject to availability) please contact our security team.
On arrival
- Press the buzzer at the car park barrier
- Announce your arrival via the intercom
- Once your booking is confirmed, security staff will raise the barrier
Disabled parking
All disabled visitors must clearly display a valid Blue Badge in their vehicle when using the council’s visitor car park.
