Reading Central Library is moving

Library services will be unavailable from Central Library, Kings Road from Monday 11 May while we move. The new library will be at the Civic Centre, Bridge Street RG1 2LU. It will open on Thursday 18 June 2026.

Opening times

On weekdays, the library is open for self-service collections and returns between 9am and 10am.

Monday 10am-5pm
Tuesday 10am-7pm
Wednesday closed
Thursday 10am-7pm
Friday 10am-5pm
Saturday 10am-3pm

Available for:

  • books and resources to take home with no fines
  • space to sit, browse, learn and work
  • local history collection
  • free wifi throughout
  • free computer use (floor G)
  • charged printing from computers and wifi
  • wifi printing from home via www.printmydocuments.com
  • free on site tablets to borrow
  • free laptops to borrow and use at home
  • study space, most of which has access to plugs
  • UKVI visa verification by appointment

Please enter via front of building on Bridge Street, walk through the main doors and go straight ahead.
