Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) consultation

The council is now consulting on minor updates to the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The SCI is a document which sets out how consultation will be undertaken on planning policy documents and other planning policy matters and is a statutory requirement. A regular review is required to ensure that the SCI is up-to-date.

A review of the existing SCI (adopted in 2014) was carried out in 2019, but never adopted due to general council-wide policy changes on consultation that were anticipated at the time. These changes never transpired in practice and therefore, a second review is overdue.

A review carried out in autumn 2024 found the existing SCI to be up-to-date other than specific changes needed regarding neighbourhood planning. The draft, now published for consultation, includes changes setting out how the Council would support neighbourhood planning.
