Business discretionary permits

Businesses may apply for additional discretionary business permits. Those located outside a permit zone can also apply.

Permits are charged at £398.

You’ll need to provide proof of business, evidence of business use of the vehicle, and a statement explaining why additional permit(s) are required.

Proof of business use

Only one proof required showing the vehicle is used in the course of the day

• DVLA registration document (V5C)
• Current insurance certificate/schedule – showing business use

Proof of business

Only one required showing name and address of business, dated within last 4 months

• Bank statement
• Gas/electric/telephone bill
• Current business rates bill

Statement of reasons

This should include reasons why you are applying for a discretionary permit, the difficulties you have encountered with parking. The more detailed your reasons for applying, the more information the council can use to decide your application.
