Measuring success – walking and cycling
We use data from the National Travel Survey and recorded by the Department for Transport to report on how many people are walking and cycling at least 3 times a week.
We will also collect information on who walks or cycles to, from and through the town centre using our annual cordon counts. We will report this data annually.
- For walking – 2021/22 baseline is 45.8%, the target for 2040 is 66% of adults walking at least 3 times a week
- For cycling – 2021/22 baseline is 5.8%, the target for 2040 is 15% of adults cycling at least 3 times a week
- Active Travel to, from and through the town centre – 2022/23 baseline is 35.4%, the target for 2040 is 40%
