Adult social care training

We are pleased to offer a range of learning options to support the local social care workforce, delivered as a mix of classroom training and online/virtual delivery.

Our priority is to support Reading based organisations or those who have a social care contract with the council, and we also provide fully funded training to personal assistants and unpaid carers. For these sectors, our courses are offered either free of charge or at a subsidised fee.

For other subjects not listed here, we no longer offer subsidised training programmes. This includes Emergency First Aid at Work, Fire awareness and Food hygiene. We offer online learning options, please see” Fully funded social care online learning”.  For other training options, a list of accredited training providers is available from Skills for Care.

Adult Social Care online learning

Reading Borough Council subscribes to Click Learning to provide our local social care workforce in Reading with free access to a wide range of online learning programmes. There are various courses available including the Care Certificate, Safeguarding and mental capacity training. Managers can be set up to track and report learner progress. This online resource is available for all providers of adult social care services within Reading at a subsidised fee, and free for all Reading Borough Council commissioned services. Registered Managers Network

This is a forum for all Registered Managers in CQC registered social care services across Berkshire. The Network meets 3 or 4 times a year (currently virtually) to share good practice and with a range of guest speakers. For more information please contact the chair, Sue Kelly.
