Adult Social Care Training

We are sure you will appreciate we are in very difficult and uncertain times, and it's looking likely that this situation will continue for some time to come.

Please be advised that we are looking at all of our training events on a course by course basis. Where possible we will explore whether our classroom courses can be delivered via alternative methods.

If you are booked on a training event which we unfortunately decide to postpone, you will receive notification through email (this will be sent to the email correspondence in your employee self-service or which you stated on your training application form).

If you have any further questions, the Learning and Workforce Development Team can be contacted via email on training@reading.gov.uk

You can contact the Learning and Workforce Development team for more information by email: training@reading.gov.uk or phone: 0118 937 2102.

The Council offers a wide range of subsidised training and development opportunities to support our social care partners in the private, voluntary and independent sectors.

Our priority is to support Reading based organisations or those who have a social care contract with the Council. We also provide fully funded training to personal assistants and unpaid carers.

For more details see our pdf icon criteria for accessing training. [49kb]

Fully funded social care online learning

Reading Borough Council subscribes to this service to provide the private, voluntary and independent social care sector in Reading with free access to a wide range of online learning programmes provided by Grey Matter Learning (previously known as Log onto Care).

This includes online assessments to support the Care Certificate.  The easy-to-use assessments can be used as to build an online portfolio of evidence including adding evidence to support competence. All the modules can be undertaken using any device with internet access, and managers can set up new staff and access reports.

The word icon Holistic Observation Assessment Tool [321kb] has been produced by Reading Borough Council and available for use by the local private, voluntary and independent sector. The tool lists all Care Certificate standards that require a direct observation. It is designed for use during an observation as a checklist to support managers/supervisors to identify all standards met and to record evidence.
