Adult Social Care Training

The Council offers a wide range of subsidised training and development opportunities to support our social care partners in the private, voluntary and independent sectors. 

Our priority is to support Reading based organisations or those who have a social care contract with the Council. We also provide fully funded training to personal assistants and unpaid carers.

Contact the Learning and Workforce Development team if you have a learning need that we don't cover in our training programme or by e-learning. We may be able to:

  • Commission additional courses (subject to demand)
  • Signpost you to an alternative learning methods.

Skills for Care provides the Workforce Development Fund to support the cost of achieving Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) adult social care qualification units.

Fully funded social care online learning

Reading Borough Council subscribes to this service to provide the private, voluntary and independent social care sector in Reading with free access to a wide range of online learning programmes provided by Grey Matter Learning Click (previously known as Log onto Care).

This includes online assessments to support the Care Certificate.  The easy-to-use assessments can be used as to build an online portfolio of evidence including adding evidence to support competence. All the modules can be undertaken using any device with internet access, and managers can set up new staff and access reports.

The word icon Holistic Observation Assessment Tool [321kb] has been produced by Reading Borough Council and available for use by the local private, voluntary and independent sector. The tool lists all Care Certificate standards that require a direct observation. It is designed for use during an observation as a checklist to support managers/supervisors to identify all standards met and to record evidence.
